Kate Butler and Hannah Suleyman strengthen the Day One Trust central team
A new Finance Director and Director of People and Operations put the Trust’s operational foundations on a strong footing for the years ahead.
Day One Trust has strengthened its central team with two senior appointments: Kate Butler as Finance Director and Hannah Suleyman as Director of People and Operations.
Kate Butler, Finance Director
Kate joins the Trust in September 2026. She began her career as a music and maths teacher before training as an accountant at PwC, and has spent a decade in senior finance roles in the academy trust sector. Kate knows our schools well, having previously served as a governor at London Screen Academy.
Hannah Suleyman, Director of People and Operations
Hannah was appointed following a competitive recruitment process. A Chartered Fellow of the CIPD, she brings more than 15 years’ experience in HR and operations, including 12 years at Oasis, where she supported 15 academies across London and the South East. She joined us from London Screen Academy.

Together, Kate and Hannah lead the finance, people and operations work that supports ELAM, London Screen Academy and the Creative Educators Network. Their appointments give the Trust strong operational foundations as it grows.
