Alex Depledge MBE joins the Day One Trust board
One of the UK’s most successful technology entrepreneurs, and until recently Entrepreneurship Adviser to the Chancellor, Alex brings experience of scale, government and the regions.

We are delighted to welcome Alex Depledge MBE to the Day One Trust board. Alex joined her first board meeting at ELAM on 12 October 2026.
Alex is one of the UK’s most successful technology entrepreneurs. She co-founded Hassle.com, which was acquired in 2015, and Resi, the home renovation and architecture platform. Most recently she served as the Treasury’s first Entrepreneurship Adviser to the Chancellor, a role she took up in 2025. She is a non-executive director of Persimmon and was made an MBE in 2016 for services to the economy.
We’re so excited to welcome Alex. She brings a wealth of understanding of scale and of government, as well as real regional expertise as someone from outside London.

Technology, government and the North
Alex brings a rare combination of experience across technology, AI, politics and government at an important moment for the Trust, as our students prepare for creative industries being reshaped by new technology.
Born and raised in Bradford, she also brings a strong connection to the North of England, which will be invaluable as we develop our work in the region. Alex already knows our schools: she gave a masterclass to ELAM students back in 2016 and has since visited London Screen Academy.
I’ve known Alex for a long time. Her get-stuff-done attitude is particularly exciting, and combining rigour with big thinking is exactly what we’re about.
